C.G. Metals was founded in 1977 as a metal supplier to the crafts: jewelry making, enameling, sculpture, etc. In 1978 a friend asked me if I carried copper plates for printmaking. I answered "yes, but what is printmaking?" Her answer opened up a whole new world for me. She then introduced me to her instructor with whom I remain friendly to this day. He in turn referred me to several of the major printmaking schools around the country and the rest is history.

While we still supply metal to the other crafts, printmaking has become the largest part of our business. We are now a major supplier of copper, brass, zinc and etching tools to printmaking departments, print studios and individual printmakers throughout the country, as well as some schools, artists and ateliers in Canada and Europe.
